Royal Bengal Rahashya is a novel in Feluda Series created by the eminent author and director Satyajit Ray. It is of 88 pages and is published by Ananda Publishers Pvt. Ltd. in 1975. It was preceded by Bombaiyer Bombete and followed by Samaddarer Chabi.
On an invitation by Mahitosh Singha Ray, Lalmohon Babu takes Feluda and Topshe to a forest near Bhutan where Feluda is given a puzzle to solve. He solves that successfully, unearths hidden secrets of the Singha Ray family, solves a murder and kills a man-eater tiger in the process. He, at the end of the story is rewarded with a Tiger-skin.
The film version of the book was made by Sandip Ray with the earlier cast of the leading characters. The actor of 'Jatayu', Bibhu Bhattacharjee died on 22nd September, 2011 night, the day the dubbing was completed[1]. It was released on December 23 2011. The film is produced by Shree Venkatesh Films and Surinder Films[2]. Minor changes were made to the plot. The killing of animals were not shown in the film. Also, since tiger-skin is an illegal item, the reward that Feluda receives at the end of the film is also different.The film was shot in various spots of North Bengal and Dhenkanal.The animals shown in the film (The Tiger and the Krait snake) are digital. Also a real snake was used without destroying its venomous teeth.
